Our Mission

At our stem cell clinic in Tinley Park, we’ve made our mission to help clients who are suffering from conditions like arthritis, chronic pain, and chronic inflammatory conditions. To do this, we use stem cell therapy — a type of innovative regenerative therapy.

History of Stem Cell Therapy

Regenerative medicine is a new, and increasingly popular type of medicine used to provide treatment for physical injuries and conditions using stem cells to regenerate broken down tissue. Since this is a newer form of medicine, research and studies are continually finding new ways to use stem cell therapy to help improve the health of our patients. Go to pubmed.com and enter mesenchymal stem cells.

But the term “stem cell” was first coined in 1908 by a Russian histologist named Alexander Maksimov. But, use of the term “stem cell” has been found as far back as 1885, when German evolutionary biologist August Weismann talked about a “germ plasm” in his germ plasm theory.

Since those early origins, stem cells have been used in different studies. Edward Donnall Thomas injected a leukemia patient with stem cells from her identical twin sister in 1956 and in 1969 performed the first successful bone marrow transplant using stem cells taken from another person.

Now, at Beyer Stem Cell Institute, we can work towards helping our patients heal through stem cell therapy. We use mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) from donated umbilical cords because they are so young and replicate much faster than our own stem cells. This means that when we put these stem cells in our patients, their bodies don’t recognize the MSCs as foreign cells. This allows the MSCs to promote cell regeneration, helping the body heal from physical injuries and repetitive trauma that might be the cause of their chronic or recurring pain.
